Grew up in Wettringen in Münsterland. Has lived in Grafrath near Munich with his wife Elli since the mid-70s.

The roots for Norbert's great story "In the Realm of the Polar Bears", which has now lasted almost three decades, were laid in the spring of 1988. Since then, the Arctic theme has become his hobby, his passion, his life. He has made over fifty trips to the Canadian North, always close to the wonders of this breathtaking world. His travels have taken him not only to Canada but also to Spitsbergen and Greenland. Magazines such as GEO and National Geographic printed his pictures.

Norbert Rosing also photographs his home country of Germany intensively. For over 30 years, he has travelled the country's natural gems from the coasts to the rivers, the low mountain ranges and the Alps in all seasons. All in colour and b/w.

Another focus of his work is the vast landscapes of the USA, especially from Yellowstone NP to the impressive landscapes of the south-west.

For a reporting trip to Cuba, journalist Bettina Peulecke advised him to take a black and white camera with him (the Leica M Monochrom). This advice changed his photographic style. Today, Norbert Rosing photographs at least 50% of his subjects in monochrome.

He has won international awards at the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, Nature's Best Magazine (USA), appeared on "Kerner", "Markus Lanz" and "Stern TV" and became known as a nature photographer on Canadian and German television, most recently on the "Red Couch" on the NDR programme DAS! In 2016 he appeared on television on MDR, on 3 nach 9 and in February 2017 on the ZDF programme: "Markus Lanz". His talks about the Arctic and Germany were watched by thousands of enthusiastic viewers. In 2015, he became the godfather of the polar bear cub twin "Nobby" at Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich.

Norbert Rosing has now published more than 20 illustrated books. The latest book: "ZEN Magie des Augenblicks" was published by Tecklenborg Verlag in June 2022. The Federal Ministry of Finance has so far published 9 stamps of the motifs from the "Wild Germany" project. His book "Wild Germany" (2007), which was published by National Geographic, became a bestseller. In autumn 2017, the book "Mein Wildes Deutschland" was published by the same publishing house.
